New to Town?
Welcome to Lisbon and Thank You for putting your roots down in our community. The City of Lisbon has created this information to help make your move the easiest possible.
Your first stop should be Lisbon City Hall – 115 N Washington St. Open Monday through Friday 8AM – 4:30PM. Here you can have the water, sewer and garbage changed into your name. While setting up your utilities you will receive a new resident packet full of helpful information.
All done moving in? Now it’s time to explore your new community. Our public library is located at 101 E Main St. and is open Monday – Saturday. The library offers several events throughout the year including an After School Cafe. Hours and more information can be found on their website at www.lisbon.lib.ia.us.
Above the library is our beautifully restored Heritage Hall. Heritage Hall is handicap accessible and offers concerts and guest speaker performances to our citizens and the surrounding area.
Directly across the street at 102 E Main is the Lisbon History and Cultural Center. The History Center features permanent and traveling displays on a regular basis. For more information and hours visit their website at www.lisbonhistorycenter.com.
Looking for a large community celebration? Every August people from all around come to town for Lisbon Sauerkraut Days, this week long festival is packed with all kinds of events from street dances to carnival games & rides to fireworks. For more information visit http://sauerkrautdays.com.
Want information like when is trash and recycling? Regular trash and recycling service is on Thursday. If a holiday falls on a Thursday, such as Thanksgiving, any changes to service dates will be posted in the paper and online. We ask trash be placed curbside by 6:00 a.m.
Have a large item such as a couch or TV that you need to get rid of? Bulky items may be placed at the curb on regular trash days and will be picked up with the appropriate number of trash tags attached to them. A listing of tag numbers can be found in the new resident packet or by contacting City Hall.
Annually the City of Lisbon offers an amnesty day for bulky item waste. This falls on the Saturday following “City Wide Garage Sales” in June. There is no charge to dispose of your bulky items on this day.
